A Powerball ticket sold at a Chevron station in Lake Elsinore has emerged as California’s biggest winner from the latest lottery drawing, though it fell just short of the ultimate jackpot.
The ticket, purchased at the Chevron on Railroad Canyon Road, matched five of the six winning numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing but did not include the Powerball number, which would have secured a grand prize of $437 million. Nevertheless, the lucky ticket holder will still take home an impressive second prize of nearly $250,000.
The winning numbers from the drawing were 7, 16, 19, 45, 64, with the Powerball number being 25. Remarkably, this Lake Elsinore ticket was the only one in the state to match all five primary numbers in this drawing.
Another ticket purchased in Pennsylvania also matched five numbers but missed the Powerball, sharing the second prize.
Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes. In the case of a jackpot winner, they have an entire year to claim their prize, allowing time for the winner to consult with financial advisors and prepare for their newfound wealth.
The Powerball is drawn every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, with the jackpot for the upcoming drawing on Monday estimated to reach around $456 million. As excitement builds around the potential jackpot, more players are expected to purchase tickets in hopes of striking it rich.
