A family in Corona is determined to keep the legacy of their son, Adam Nemat, alive after a devastating golf cart accident claimed his life. Adam, a 17-year-old high school senior, had so much to look forward to: his 18th birthday, attending senior prom, and potentially studying physics at UC San Diego. However, those dreams were tragically cut short last Friday.
According to his mother, Mona Nemat, Adam was with friends in a modified golf cart when the accident occurred. “They were in a dirt area,” she explained. While his friends survived the crash, Adam died instantly.
Despite the immense grief, the Nemat family is focused on honoring Adam’s spirit and the positive impact he had on those around him. His parents describe him as a force for good, always driven by a sense of purpose and kindness.
Adam was heavily involved in raising awareness for the global water crisis, serving as the treasurer of the Thirst Project club at his high school. In addition to advocating for blood donations, he regularly volunteered to feed the less fortunate. His selflessness and passion for helping others left a lasting impression on many people.
In keeping with Adam’s spirit of giving, the Nemats decided to donate his organs. They also launched a crowdfunding campaign in Adam’s honor, directing the funds to support UNICEF, continuing his efforts to make the world a better place.
“I think Adam understood that you don’t have to do big things to make a difference,” said his mother. “You can do little things, and they still matter.”
The family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from the community. Messages have been pouring in from people whose lives Adam touched.
“I am still overwhelmed with how many people have reached out, how many parents have messaged,” Mona Nemat said. “I’ve received countless texts, Facebook messages, and notes saying, ‘My kid thought he was your kid’s best friend.'”
Adam’s kindness, generosity, and commitment to helping others will continue to live on, not only through his family’s efforts but also in the memories of those who knew him.
